With various theatrical techniques, Hitomi-za portrays the great qualities of his masterpieces and gets to the root of the poet’s creation.
In March 2011, Japanese history came to the turning point. The company aims to deliver the stories by Kenji Miyazawa, who took his root in Tohoku region and created wonderful works, to as many children as possible.
In 1948, a group of young people who gathered at Kamakura Academia started to create theatre productions including puppetry theatres.
Eventually Puppet Theatre Hitomi-za was established from the group and started its broad activities which is still going on today.
