Two modern-day clowns take to the stage, playing out their unique and hilarious pas de deux through the universal language of gesture and look. Pss Pss, is that confidential sound which signifies, in any language, an intriguing complicity between two people. Without an actual word being spoken, these two characters sweep us up in a timeless and award-winning performance with all the seriousness, skill, innocence, and unkindness of childhood. They proclaim their affection, their disagreements, reconcile their differences, assert their comradeship, perform their gravity-defying acts and despite everything, strive to make things work.
Baccalà Clown was born from the union of Simone Fassari (him) and Camilla Pessi (her). After attending the Teatro Dimitri school in Switzerland at the same time, they both went their separate ways, performing in many circuses and cabarets in far away countries without seeing each other for years. Then, one day in 2004 Simone, on tour with a circus, contacted Camilla to stand-in for his usual acrobatic partner who had done a runner, and thus a union was born, an exceptional way of working together, an artistic and human complicity. Together they ran away from the circus, to explore the characteristics and techniques of their clown characters, creating the repertoire with which they struck out alone, and continue to travel the world, this time together.
In 2010 director Louis Spagna completed Baccalà’s first full-length show, Pss Pss, gleefully received and acclaimed all over the world; in France, Edinburgh, London, Brazil, Egypt, Guyana, Turkey, Polynesia, Morocco and in Italy. Pss Pss has been shown to great acclaim at The London International Mime Festival 2011, Avignon Festival France 2011 and 2013, and at Edinburgh Fringe in 2014. In 2015 and 2016 Pss Pss will be appearing in Zimbabwe, South Africa, France, Italia, New Zealand, Japan, Great Britain and Germany. A new show will premiere in 2017.
